Imphal, March 06 2019:
Red Shield Eagles of Red Shield Division has put an end to the worry of the P Moulding villagers who have been facing water shortage over the years by completing a water supply scheme in the villages, said a statement of PIB (Defence Wing) today.
The P Moulding villages are four villages with a population of 1,200 residing in 208 houses nestled in the Koubru Ridge of Senapati district.
The water supply to this village is through natural source in hills approximately 3 kms above the villages which had over a period of time deteriorated leading to lack of water supply and was a major cause of worry for the villagers.
The ladies and children of the villages used to walk distances to fetch water as they could not afford purchase of the water from tankers to meet household needs.
The problem was projected to the Red Shield Eagles of Red Shield Division during one of the interaction programme with the villagers.
Realizing the hardship of the villagers, the Indian Army committed to assist and not only facilitated a water supply scheme but also worked alongside the villagers in installing and completed the scheme.
The new water supply scheme has addressed the basic needs of the people thereby easing their lives and reducing their burden especially of ladies and children who are now free for other activities including attending schools, said the statement of the PIB (Defence Wing) .
