Imphal, August 05 2013:
Even though Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and other service commissions in the country have started compulsory online registration, Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC) is still following the traditional format of registration on paper.
MPSC has recently issued notification for Manipur Civil Services Combined Competitive (Preliminary) Examination, 2013 for recruitment of 91 posts comprising MCS, MPS, MFS, SDC and election officer.
The issue of application forms has started from August 3 at MPSC office, North AOC and would continue till September 9 next.
Admission cards would be issued from September 30 onwards.
The preliminary examination is scheduled to be held on October 13 with Imphal as the only examination centre.
A large number of civil service aspirants have thronged at MPSC office to get application forms for the State's highest competitive examination.
Both men and women have to stand in long queues in the rain or under scorching sun to get the forms.
Many people are disgruntled with MPSC for not allowing online registration.
A person who came to get the application form told Hueiyen Lanpao that MPSC is troubling the candidates by not allowing online registration.
Candidates could have easily done the registration and fill up application forms online either from home or cyber cafe without any hustle-bustle.
But now, candidates have to stand for long hours at least three times at MPSC office for getting the application form first, then for submission of the form and lastly for getting the admission card, he lamented.
A civil service aspirant from Tamenglong said, "I have come a long way from Tamenglong to Imphal to get the application form for Manipur Civil Services Examination, 2013 .
Lack of online registration facility is really a trouble for candidates, especially from far flung places.
I have to stay for some days here in Imphal till submission of form is over.
I have applied for UPSC, SSC and others online just from my home.
I need not waste my study hours standing in long queues and spending few days in Imphal if there is online registration facility for MPSC.
This traditional format is really a headache'' .
A parent who came to collect application form for his son staying outside Manipur said, "Things could have been easier if there is online registration.
Now, I have to get the form and send it to my son by post.
He has to fill up the form in his own handwriting and again send it back to me for submission as application forms cannot be submitted through post as per instructions of MPSC.
Simple things are being made so complicated by MPSC.
Hope there will be online registration in the next examination" .
