Imphal, June 01 2023:
A meeting convened by All Manipur IOCL Retail Outlet Dealer's Association (AMIRDA) today deliberated on the problems being faced by oil pumps in rendering their service amid the tense situation in Manipur.
The meeting was held at Hotel Nirmala in Imphal.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, representatives of different oil pumps said that the Government didn't issue any notification or order for the process (rotational basis) in which petrol and diesel are being supplied in Imphal East and Imphal West by Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution (CAF & PD) currently.
"The direction to supply fuel to consumers on a rotational basis was given by a few persons and when a complaint is lodged to them they threatened us," they claimed.
Claiming that the oil supply mechanism underway in the two districts will kill the business of many oil pumps, they said there are many oil pumps which haven't sold even a litre of petrol and diesel since May 4 .
There is no harm in continuing the rotational pattern but every oil pump needs to be given a chance to sell petrol and diesel based on the split load system of the oil supplied by the Malom Oil Depot daily.
The officials of the IOCL must be consulted in implementing the split load system, they added.
Further stating that suspension of internet services also affect the functioning of retail outlets, they appealed to the IOCL and Government to look into the matter at the earliest.
