ZYF extends greetings on Chaga Gadi

The Zeliangrong Youth Front (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland) in a press release signed by its Secretary Inf & Pub, conveyed its warm greetings to the Zeliangrong people particularly to the Liangmei community on the celebration of "Chaga Gadi / Ngee" festival which will be mainly celebrated on 31st October at Kohima, Nagaland and other Zeliangrong villages in the states of Assam, Manipur & Nagaland.
Chaga Gadi festival of Liangmei Nagas community is celebrated to respect the womenfolk for their contribution in sustaining the family.
It is an annual post harvest festival, which is described to be among the most awaited festivals of the Liangmei Nagas.
It is the thanksgiving festival celebrated in the month of October each year for five days, it is observed as a war festival.
The week-long celebration of the Chaga Gadi is also considered a period of purification / sanctification and rededication.
The ZYF hope that the festival will bring peace, unity and harmony in the state and it is an opportunity for everyone to celebrate and share the joys of life.
It is also a time when religious barriers are broken and everyone comes together, said the release.
