Imphal, March 30 2015 :
Doors and windows of District Institute of Education & Training (DIET) office building at the DM College of Commerce were damaged when a group of angry students of the institute attacked it in protest on Monday.
Students of DM College of Commerce were protesting against the failure of the State Government to move the DIET office from the campus.
A large number of police commandos from Imphal West Police Station prevented the student protestors from closing the main gate of DIET office, resulting in a short scuffle.
When the scuffle was in progress, some students broke the doors and windows of several rooms of the office including that of the Principal.

Enraged over the vandalism, another scuffle ensued between two groups of students.
Additional police personnel were called in to control the skirmish.
Later, the protesting students met DIET Principal who assured them to resolve the issue after consulting the education minister at a convenient time soon.
A student of DM College of Commerce told Hueiyen Lanpao that the students have been demanding the Government to shift the DIET office to an alternative location since 2002 .
He said the Joint Director of Education (U) had on March 20 promised to take steps to remove the office from the campus.
"We tried to shut down the office today in protest as the authorities have failed to fulfill the promise," he said.
