AMCTA reminds Govt of its demands

All Manipur College Teachers' Association (AMCTA) has reminded the Government to fulfil the 10 point charter of demands it had submitted to the State Government.
A press release issued by Dr M Imocha Singh, joint secretary (Pub) AMCTA said that the teachers association has held a meeting today and resolved to appeal the Government to fulfil the demands at the earliest.
AMCTA had submitted the 10 Point Charter of Demand to the State Government on September 29 urging it to resolve the pending issues of college teachers including demand for implementation of 7th UGC Pay Revision.
The 10 point charter of demands includes- immediate release of long pent allowances, i.e, SCA, TA entitled to college teachers and equivalent cadres by making correction of ROP orders dated August, 12, 2011.AMCTA also demanded implementation of revised 7th UGC Pay Scales to the Government college teachers and equivalent cadres of Manipur and financial assistance at the rate of 50% of the additional expenditure from the Central Government.
The demands also include, placement of Assistant Professor in their higher grades (Assistant Professor stage-II and left out promotion and extension of benefits of 1 increment.
AMCTA also urged the State to absorb Guest Lecturers serving under Government colleges as full-fledged teachers andenhancement of the monthly ceiling of GPF Withdrawal/Advance in respect of Department of Higher education upto Rs 2 crore.
It urged the State to fill up the vacant posts of teaching and non-teaching staff and improve physical infrastructures of the Government colleges in the State.
AMCTA bats for appointment to the post of Director and Additional Director from among the teaching faculties and to consult AMCTA while making policies.
The meeting of the AMCTA also decided to pursue the authority concerned to solve the issue of advance increment/incentives for the Assistant Professor with M Phil and Ph Degrees by honouring the earlier verification made by Government at the time of confirmation of their services, added the statement.
