Senapati witnesses first ever free heart camp, 200 people treated

Senapati, September 29 2017:
In connection with the observance of World Heart Day, SKY Group of Hospitals in association with Mt Carmel School, Manipur Heart Foundation, and Newmai Janwangbou Trust conducted a free heart camp at Mt Carmel School, Katomei, Senapati district today.
The camp opened from 10 am and continued till 3 pm.
The very first free heart camp in the district was led by British Clinical Excellence awardee and well known Cardiologist, Dr Shyamkishore Lairikyengbam and his team.
He is also the Chief Cardiologist and Chairman of SKY Group of Hospitals.
During the camp, OPD, ECG, tests for BP, Diabetes were opened for the participants and medicines were distributed for free.
More than 200 people were given check up and treatment and appropriate treatment advice.
Speaking to media persons, Dr Shyamkishore expressed his concern for the people of Senapati who are not able to come to Imphal for proper treatment and check up.
He said that heart attack and other heart related cases are the major killers in the world where Manipur is among those states who shares maximum number of victim.
He appealed all the people of the district not to ignore the symptoms of heart disease and conduct timely check up to prevent any heart problems.
"If one can detect a heart problem at an early stage, the probability of preventing the Sudden Cardiac Death (SCD) ,which is considered one of the main cause of death during sleep, is high", Dr Shyamkishore noted.
He elaborated the various schemes available for heart patients and assured his cooperation to those who come for early treatment and also to conduct such free heart camp in near future.
NPO president T Kamba Moses extended his gratitude for conducting the a heart camp which the people have witnessed for the first time.
He also lauded the Chairman for taking the trouble to come to Senapati inspite of harsh weather, to provide such medical assistance.
On behalf of the NPO, he promised assistance and support the medical team.
CMO, Senapati Dr Loli Mao stated that the district is privileged to have such free heart camp even though the district has several insufficient facilities.
