Imphal, April 29 2019:
The All Manipur VDF Welfare Association has alleged that the authority concerned has failed to provide necessary TA to the VDF personnel who were deployed for election duty, till date.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, the general secretary of the association, Md Riyaz Khan said that many VDFs were deployed at various districts in connection with the Inner and Outer Manipur Parliamentary elections of the recently concluded 17th Lok Sabha election.
However, necessary TA were not provided.
Only the TA for one or two days was given even though the VDF personnel were utilised for 4/5 days, he added.
He continued that the VDF are even being used to guard places at Jiribam where railway tunnel work is underway even though it was originally guarded by CRPF and BSF.
He then alleged that even when the authorities concerned were approached, the demands of the VDF personnel have been completely neglected.
As per an order, each VDF should be given Rs 1500 by the Government but this is not so.
For duty during Outer election, the TA should be Rs 150 per day.
However, it was found that the TA provided was extremely less and even when the district welfare committees of the VDF complained to the authorities concerned, it was to no avail.
He continued that every year, the extension order of the VDF personnel are given every March but for the current year, the extension order is not yet issued which has resulted in salaries and ration money being halted.
A memorandum was already submitted to the higher authorities but till date, there has not been any issuance of an extension order till today, he lamented and appealed for speedy action from the authority concerned.
