Scribes resumed normal duty after two day cease work strike following the withdrawal of threat on the life of spokesperson of the All Manipur Working Journalists� Union by the KCP (Lanheiba) group.
Scribes under the banner of the All Manipur Working Journalists� Union were on two days cease work strike on Friday and Saturday in protest against threats on the life of the Union�s spokesperson, A Mobi Singh who is also the editor of local vernacular, Sanaleibak.
Scribes were also demanding apology from the faction apart from withdrawing the threat on the life of the spokesperson clarifying that spokesperson has nothing to do with the decision not to publish statements of the group and the decision was taken by a meeting of the AMWJU and editors under its code of conduct.
AMWJU considered threat on its spokesperson as threat to all the scribes and resolved to cease work against the act of the faction.
They staged sit-in protest for the last two day at Keishampat, Imphal.
The decision to call off the stir of the AMWJU was taken in another rounds of general body meeting convened yesterday at 4 pm at Manipur Press Club presided over by the president of the Union.
The meeting welcomed the decision of the KCP (Lanheiba) group withdrawing the threat imposed on its spokesperson apart from resolving a team of AMWJU to hold talk with the leaders of the group later at a favourable timing.
Observing that media has nothing to do with conflict situation arises between two groups of undergrounds, the meeting also resolved to publish statements of both groups of Lanheiba and Chingkheinganba taking into account the news value of the very statements.
