Centre has approved initiative to send CAU students to foreign Universities, says VC

The Central Government has given approval to the project which aims to impart training to students of 13 colleges under CAU Jmphal at various Foreign Universities for three months each.
Speaking to media persons at CAU HQs in Lamphelpat, its Vice Chancellor Dr M Premjit said that students of 13 colleges in the North East, established under the Central Agricultural University, will be given the opportunity to attend training programme at various Foreign Universities for three months each, so that they receive the right amount of exposure they need.

A team of officials led by Director of Instruction Dr S Basanta submitted the proposal of the 25 crore project, he said and added that a total of 150 students will be sent within two years, for the said training.
With an aim to provide experiences to the teachers, 37 teacher will be attending a refresher course at the universities abroad as well.
He maintained that CAU Imphal secured the 13th position among 75 other universities of India in 2017 .
However, the ranking has decreased to 25 this year which is unfortunate, added the VC.
The VC expressed hope that CAU will be able to improve its ranking this year.
Premjit urged all students, who are interested in Agriculture & Allied, to enrol themselves at the best colleges of CAU so as to improve human resource development and show that the North East is not less than other States of the country.
He narrated that one Keisham Geenita, daughter of Keisham Indrajit of Wangkhei Wangkheimayum Leirak, emerged as the all India topper in the ICAR-AIEEA JRF 2019 (Fisheries Science stream).
She scored 567 out of 640 in the exam conducted by National technical Agency, under the aegis of ICAR, he said and added that Geenita completed her Bachelor of Fisheries Science from the College of Fisheries, Lembucherra Tripura.
She is planning to pursue PG course at Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Mumbai, the VC added.
Meanwhile, D Bernice of Makhan centre village, Senapati is the topper of ICAR-AIEEA JRF 2019 (Community Science stream) and she completed her BSc (Honours) from College of Community Science, CAU, Tripura.
It is a proud moment that students of the State, from the 13 colleges, have emerged as all India toppers, the VC remarked and added that students from constituent colleges of CAU Imphal have successfully clinched top positions in the past.
He went on to state that it is a big achievement for all the people of the State that 10 pass out students from constituent colleges of CAU Imphal cracked the All India Agriculture Research Service (ARS) Examination 2018.Maintaining that the examination is similar to that of an IAS examination, he said that CAU Imphal has successfully produced 119 ARS in 25 years.
