AMWJU extends boycott of government till March 7

Imphal, February 27 2011:
After a thorough discussion on the action taken by the government with regard to the pending case of AMWJU's vice-president, Editor A Mobi of Sanaleibak in an emergency meeting, the standing committee of the All Manipur Working Journalists' Union has decided to extend the boycott of government till March 7 .
A statement of the union signed by its general secretary, N Philip, said that the meeting rejected the request from the SPF spokesperson regarding the total lifting of the boycott.
Minister N Biren informed the union of of the government's action taken report including police action and the stand of the Congress and CPI, ruling partners of the SPF government.
The boycott relaxation period expired on February 25 .
The standing committee of the union issued a statement saying that if the government fails to fulfill the conditions of AMWJU, return of the FIR case against A Mobi on or before March 7, then the boycott will be resumed from March 8 .
The meeting, while discussing the renewal and fresh enrolment of membership of the union, has decided to extend the last date of submission of applications for renewal till March 2.No application after the last date will be entertained as per the decision, it said.
