Tamenglong, April 26 2015 :
United Naga Council (UNC) has decided to go ahead with the proposed 48-hour bandh from Monday midnight while Rongmei Naga Council, Manipur (RNC-M) and Liangmai Naga Council, Manipur (LNC-M) will not be part of the UNC sponsored bandh.
Talking to Hueiyen Lanpao, UNC President Gaidon Kamei termed the stand of the two councils as "unfortunate".
He also alleged that RNC-M and LNC-M have been "sponsored" by Government of Manipur and asserted that all their attempts will be thwarted.
Gaidon Kamei also appealed all to support the 48-hour bandh in Naga areas.
Meanwhile, in a joint press note, RNC-M Vice President PR Keihiamang and LNC-M Vice President DM Guiningbou informed that the total bandh called by the UNC will not be supported by their councils as the two were yet to be granted UNC affiliation.
The two councils said that all representations submitted earlier including a reminder to UNC on the same issue had been ignored.
This has compelled the councils to abstain from UNC sponsored activities.
"The present United Naga Council President Gaidon Kamei from Rongmei tribe is not recognized by the Rongmei Council as he violated the decision of the Rongmei Naga Council resolution.
The decision to oppose the bandh is not against any Naga issue but to express our dissatisfaction to the United Naga Council" the Statement said.
Any directive and decision imposed by UNC will not be supported by Rongmei and Liangmei tribes as we are not a part of UNC till the right decision is taken by it, added the statement.
