Nemcha Kipgen inaugurates Senior Citizens Home

Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister Nemcha Kipgen along with Education Minister and local MLA Thokchom Radheshyam inaugurated Senior Citizens Home at Salungpham Kangyambem Laikol Maya, Thoubal District which was constructed under the scheme of Integrated Programme for Senior Citizens (IPSrC), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India through Department of Social Welfare, Government of Manipur.
Addressing the gatherings as chief guest, Minister Nemcha expressed her firm belief that the opening of old age home will serve the senior citizens living in and around the area as a second home.
She also assured that the Government will extend all possible assistance to make this centre a successful one with all the required amenities and facilities like health care, banks, well-equipped kitchen to provide healthy diets for the inmates.
Social Welfare Minister Nemcha also highlighted the various welfare schemes introduced by the Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the initiative of Chief Minister N Biren Singh which are specially meant for older persons while encouraging everybody to avail such benefits.
Later, Minister Nemcha announced that through DSWO benefits will be delivered to older inmates of this newly inaugurated home under the scheme "Chief Minister Gi Shottharaba Singgi Tenbang".
She also warned that those old age homes which are not functioning properly as per the norms and guidelines of the Ministry will be blacklisted.
Delivering the presidential speech, Minister Th Radheshyam said that it is the responsibility of the younger generations to ensure that the lives of the senior citizens are secured and well settled.
At present, 21 older persons are residing in this newly inaugurated home.
The inaugural function was organized by Rural People Development Organization (RPDO), Heirok Thoubal while Adhyaksha Thoubal Zilla Parishad, Hashina Begum, Up-Adhyaksha Thoubal Zilla Parishad, T Nunghi Singh, Co-ordinator RRTC North East India Wangbal, Kh Kumar Singh and District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) Thoubal, Kameshor Singh also graced the occasion as guests of honour.
