Alleged extra-judicial killing : Wife appeals for prosecution sanction

The wife of Athokpam Angousana who died in an alleged extra judicial killing, has appealed the authority concerned to provide prosecution sanction for speedy trial and to deliver long awaited justice.
This was stated during a press conference held at Manipur Press club today noon by Athokpam ongbi Tampha wife of deceased Angousana.
Speaking to media persons today, she stated that due to the failure of the authority concerned to give the required prosecution sanction to CBI, CJM Thoubal has disposed the case.
Athokpam Angousana was killed in an alleged extra judicial case by Thoubal police commandos on February 28, 2011.She stated that CBI took up the investigation as per the direction of the Supreme Court of India.
CBI had submitted the charge sheet before CJM Thoubal on August 31 last year against the accused police personnel then Head Constable Huidrom Sakthi, Ngangbam Arunkumar, Chingkham Mani, Khumukcham Vikim, Ninthoujam Ingobi and Md Azaj Ahmed.
Family members were hopeful that justice will be delivered regarding the death of her husband in police custody but as no prosecution sanction was given by authority concerned to the CBI the case has been disposed by the Court.
She appealed the authority concerned to give the prosecution sanction needed so that the trial can be held.
Tampha also stated that after the charge sheet was submitted by CBI before the Court, an unknown person had come up to the family members and asked them to withdraw the case before by offering a sum of Rs 7 lakh.
She also alleged that her husband was picked up by police personnel on charges of being an arms dealer and was asked give Rs 50 thousand by then Head Constable H Sakthi for the safe release of her husband.
It may be mentioned that on February 27, 2011 at around 5 pm a team of Thoubal police commandos picked up Angousana from his residence on the pretext of questioning him.
Much to the surprise of the family members, the commandos handed over Angousana with marks of third degree torture the next day at around 9 am.
As his condition was critical he was immediately taken to RIMS for treatment, where the doctor declared him dead at around 11.30 am on the same day.
