PM, Sonia to arrive on Dec 3

Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and Chairperson of United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Sonia Gandhi are expected to visit Imphal on December 3 .
According to information received by the press, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh convened a joint meeting with other Cabinet Ministers in his office chamber at around 5 pm today and discussed the preparations to be made in connection with the proposed visit of the two central leaders.
Presided over by the Chief Minister, the meeting discussed the itinerary of the two central leaders' right from the moment they touch down at Imphal till their departure in the minutest details.
According to sources, the Assembly complex which is constructed as part of the larger Capitol Project at Chingmeirong would be inaugurated during the proposed visit of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi to Imphal.
During their visit the foundation stones of many new projects are also expected to be laid.
The meeting of the Cabinet Ministers also discussed the security measures to be taken up in connection with the visit of the two dignitaries.
It may be noted here that in keeping in mind the expected visit of the two central leaders, the state administration has been paying special attention to giving a face-lift to Imphal city.
Starting from Airport, street lamps put up all along the Tiddim Road and road medians are being decorated with new coat of paint.
