Bomb blast on Aug 13 One remanded, two formally arrested

Imphal, August 24 2017:
The Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West Court, remanded one police personnel to judicial custody while two other accused, including another police personnel, were formally arrested by two different police stations, today .
The three accused, identified as Sapam Nanda alias Makar (50) s/o S Sanatomba of Bashikhong Torbal, Pipa Yaima Maring (29) (Head Constable, Imphal East commando) s/o P Angpung Maring of Kanggoi Khulen Machi and Thingbaijam Sanjoy (35) (Head Constable, Singjamei police sta- tion) s/o Dornjit of Kakwa Naorem Leikai, were arrested by Imphal West po- lice on August 13 along with a huge quantity of explosive materials, for alleged involvement in an IED blast at Kakwa Naorem Leikai, the same day .
The three accused were produced before the Court by a Singjamei police team with a prayer to remand all three of them till September 7 in their custody .
The prayer mentioned that during the course of investigation, the accused revealed that the explosive items were delivered to them near MU gate number 2 by a couple coming in a Honda moped in July .
After receiving the explosives, they were kept con- cealed at the residence of Sanjoy, one of the accused .
Pipa Yaima Maring disclosed that he joined Mani- pur Police in the year 2006 as a Constable along with Thingbaijam Sanjoy and were promoted to the rank of Head Constable in March this year.
They were both posted at Imphal East commando before Sanjoy was transferred to Singjamei police .
The police prayer further mentioned that prima facie evidence have been established against the accused individuals for being member of PREPAK and attempt to murder with criminal intention causing damage by using explosive substances .
Accordingly, the Court remanded all three accused to judicial custody .
In the meantime, Lilong police station and City police filed applications for formal arrest of Thingbaijam Sanjoy and Sapam Nan- da respectively .
The Court allowed the two police applications and both the accused were formally arrested by two different police teams while Pipa Yaima Maring has been remanded to judicial custody.
