CEO appeals to have proper knowledge on poll guidelines

State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) O Nabakishore has appealed to all concerned to have proper knowledge on election guidelines in order to conduct the elections in a free and fair manner.
He was speaking as Chief Guest of a one-day workshop on election expenditure monitoring and model code of conduct organized by the Office of CEO, Manipur at Hotel Classic, North AOC here today.
CEO Nabakishore further said that the media plays an important role in educating the voters about the election guidelines.
The media must also act responsibly as the fourth estate of democracy by publishing only the correct and factual reports, he added.
Deputy Commissioner of Imphal West K Radhakumar and Assistant CEO Peter Salam spoke on the topics "Model Code of Conduct� and "Election Expenditure Monitoring & Paid News� respectively as resource persons of the workshop.
Representatives of various political parties including Congress, BJP, CPI and CPM participated in the workshop.
During the interaction session, Secretary of CPI Manipur State Council Dr M Nara and other noted politicians pressed for holding the coming Lok Sabha polls in both Inner and Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituencies on a single day, and also urged the officials to use paper ballot in the coming Lok Sabha election if the Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) cannot be used on a large scale.
