PLA, PREPPAK-Pro cadres held; Search Ops continue

Imphal, January 24 2023:
Imphal West district police commandos arrested two active cadres of RPF-PLA from Kwakei-thel Laishram Leikai, Imphal West on Monday.
Identifying the captive duo as Tourangbam Sanjit alias Nongdren (33), son of Tourangbam Thambou of Kwakeithel Laishram Leikai, and Lendl Potsangbam alias Luching Nganba Meitei (32), son of Potsangbam Arunkumar of Kwakeithel Thok-chom Leikai, a police source said they were arrested from the residence of Thambou around 12.30 pm Monday.
As disclosed by Sanjit, he joined the UG group in 2008 under army number A3122 (2008 batch) and is currently working under the command of the group's self-styled commander (finance/goods tax) Puthiba.
He along with Lendl collected money from private institutions, businessmen in Imphal area for the party's fund.
He also revealed that Lendl joined the group in October 2022 .
Both have been handed over to Singjamei police station for further legal actions.
Meanwhile, another team of the district's commando unit arrested three active cadres of PREPAK Pro from different parts of the district on Tuesday.
The arrested UG cadres have been identified as Oinam Iboyaima alias Boyai (45), son of late Keshore Singh of Kwakeithel Moirangpurel Leikai, Huidrom Priyokumar alias Jim, son of late Nimai of Khagempalli Huidrom Leikai, and Tangtanga Angaikham Marine alias Taibangnganba alias Athoi (29), son of Tangthanga Komang Maring of Langol Khunou.
Police source said that Iboyaima was arrested from his house on Tuesday morning at 6.40 following specific information of his presence.
A 0.32 pistol and a magazine were seized from his possession.
Self-styled corporal Priyokumar was also arrested from his house at around 7.30 pm while self-styled lance corporal Tangtanga Angaikham Maring was arrested from near Old Pallel police station.
They along with the seized arms have been handed over to Singjamei police station for further legal actions.
On the other-hand, teams of Imphal West district police commandos on Tuesday carried out search operations in various places ahead of the upcoming Republic Day celebrations.
According to a police report, a team of the district commandos conducted search operation at Uripok.
Chakri Kom, Ngari Gali and Ima Keithel and surrounding areas from 8.20 am to 8.50 am.
In all, 135 people were verified one-by-one, out of which 14 without identification papers were handed over to City PS for further verification.
Meanwhile, another team conducted search operation at Keisham-thong Laisom Leirak and Moirang Ningthou Leirak from 3.30pm to 5pm on Tuesday.
Altogether 80 houses were searched and 110 people verified but no arrests were made.
