Hengbung Baptist Church celebrates platinum jubilee

The Platinum Jubilee of the Hengbung Baptist Church (HBC) was held at its Jubilee Hall today.
The jubilee celebration which was held on the theme "Thus far the Lord has helped us" began with the blowing of indigenous trumpet and followed by a prayer conducted by HBC Pastor Reverend Letkhothong Haokip and the unveiling of a monolith by the former general secretary of MBC Reverend Dr V Sitlhou.
Later, Reverend Dr Kh Khaizakham hoisted a flag before Pastor Ashong Lotzem of S Changoubung Baptist Church gave invocation.
Saitu A/C MLA Haokholet Kipgen who graced the occasion as the chief guest released a souvenir during the programme.
Speaking at the event, Haokholet Kipgen who is also the Chief of Hengbung Village expressed joy that the platinum jubilee of HBC has coincided with the 75 years of India's independence.
He said that the HBC has reached a significant milestone since its inception and the villagers of Henbung village have also been blessed by the Lord till today.
The MLA further appealed to the villagers to use their natural resources, energy and every possession wisely adding that these are the precious gifts of God.
While stating that the present Government is laying emphasis on bringing development in the rural and remote areas of the State, Haokholet Kipgen exuded confidence that he could fulfil the aspirations of the people in Saitu Assembly Constituency with the grace of God and support from Chief Minister N Biren.
He informed that the villagers of Henbung and the adjoining villages will soon be able to reap the benefits of a Power Project (12 KV) which is being taken up in the earlier village.
The MLA added that the Power project is the hybrid of solar and conventional energy sources and likely to be inaugurated within a few months.
