Repairing work along Tamenglong-Khongsang road begins, finally

Tamenglong, August 23 2013 :
The 83th Battalion Border Road Task Force (BRTF) on Friday began the actual maintenance work along the deplorable Tamenglong- Khongsang road by filling up pot holes.
The much awaited work began from the point of Sangrungpang village.
The maintenance of works included drainage, retaining walls, laying slab culvert, filling up potholes and jungle clearing.
It is said that all these works would complete within three months.
The shifting of BRTF/ CPL camp will also begin from Monday (26th August 2013) .
Disclosing this to Hueiyen lanpao, Badrinath Bal, Junior Engineer Civil of BRTF, said that for the maintenance of Tamenglong-Khongsang road, BRTF has recruited 24 Casual Payment Labourers.
The whole work will be completed within three months.
To the query, Badrinath Bal disclosed that double-laning of the road will start after the completion of the ongoing maintenance work.
It may be mentioned that the Ministry of Surface Transport, Government of India had sanctioned Rs.1.57 crores for the maintenance of the 39 km-long Tamenglong- Khongsang road, whose deplorable condition had compelled the frontal organisations of Tamenglong to launch series of agitations including non-cooperation to the recent 67th Independence Day celebration at Tamenglong district.
The 38 km stretch road has been left without any maintenance by the State PWDafter it was blacktopped by BRTF since 2008 .
