Imphal, January 23 2021:
The All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) has lauded the efforts of the State Government to start reopening of schools which have been closed since March last year in wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
AMSU in a statement said that the student body welcomes the Government's move and will be assisting in executing the matter.
The pandemic has put the students' career, especially those who are appearing in the upcoming Class X and XII examinations, at stake, it said.
Considering the apprehension that the academic year of the students may be lost, AMSU has been urging the State Government to work out a plan to initiate reopening of the schools with necessary safety measures, it said.
Of late, COVID vaccination programme has been started, however fear of the COVID-19 which has claimed many lives, remains strong among the parents.
As such, the reopening will be a bit tough, admitted AMSU and urged concerned authorities to clear the apprehensions among parents by reaching out with the measures to be in place.
Further, school administrations should apprise safety measures to be taken up to the parents or guardians via regular updates on its respective website or WhatsApp group, it appealed.
Even if it is late, the students should make the most of the teachings in these few months, AMSU encouraged.
AMSU also appealed to all concerned to provide regular class at least for two months to the students appearing for board examinations to be conducted by BOSEM, CBSE and COHSEM.
Even if the examinations are to be held later off the schedule, the concerned board should ensure result declaration in its usual schedule by utilising additional man power so that students face no additional worries for admission for higher education, it appealed.
