Thoubal, April 21 2019:
Demanding the State Government to pressure the Central Government to introduce a Bill that grant equal punishment to both man and women involved in cases related to adultery, volunteers of Women Against Crime (WAC) and other CSOs, students and local populace took out a protest rally at Khangabok, Thoubal district today.
The protest rally which was flagged off from KM Blooming Higher Secondary School's gate by its Chairman Kh Manjor Mangang used several placards that read "Remarriage of women is punishable", "Save child's rights" and "We condemn polygamy" were used among others.
Speaking by the sideline of the rally, WAC secretary Robita Leima said that married men and women involved in adultery should be punished accordingly as it gives birth to many domestic violence in the State including death.
Saying that practising such act also violates child rights and also degrades the reputation of family members and relatives, she added that WAC will submit a PIL to Supreme Court regarding the matter.
