Imphal, February 20 2018:
The All Manipur VDF Welfare Association has demanded the State Government and the authority concerned to bring up the issue of disbursement of pending salaries of the VDF personnel, during the ongoing State Assembly session.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, the president of the association, L Deban Singh stated that the association held an emergency general body meeting today and various resolutions were passed in the meeting.
The meeting condemned the failure of the ruling as well as the Opposition to discuss about the welfare of the 10,050 strong VDF personnel of the State during the Assembly session and appealed to the State Government to bring up and discuss necessary steps for the welfare of the VDF personnel of the State in the Assembly session.
Demanding an increase in the monthly salaries of the VDF personnel, the association also urged the authority concerned to disburse the three months' worth of pending salaries for the VDF personnel before Yaoshang festival.
On the other hand, he also demanded the authority concerned to provide necessary uniforms to all VDF personnel.
The requisite uniforms have been issued only to the VDF personnel of Bishnupur district till date, he claimed.
If the Home Minister of the State fails to provide any positive response regarding the demands of the association before February 23, the association will launch stringent agitation, he warned.
