Imphal, October 19 2018:
All Club Organisation Association and Meirapaibi Lup (ACOAM-Lup) has appealed the State Government to halt the construction work of Ras Leela hall inside Kangla until the 'confusion' among the public is clear.
Saying that different communities in the State are living in harmony since time immemorial, a statement of Kh Dhara IPR ACOAM Lup Kangleipak expressed his concern over the attempt of some individuals to identify Kangla issue as 'controversy' within Sanamahism.
He stated that the blame game between the previous and present Government instead of solving the issue has deepened the confusion.
Adding that Kangla is a sacred place fpr the Meetei/Meitei, Kh Dhara maintained that the public cannot accept any developmental work taken up inside Kangla for mere political gain.
Condemning the statement made by the spokesperson of the incumbent Government, which claimed that the present Government is just implementing the work proposed by the previous Government, he added that it is the duty of the present Government to work according to the aspirations and sentiment of the people.
He further conveyed that ACOAM Lup genuinely welcomes suggestions of the Chief Minister to discuss the issue with all the concerned stakeholders.
He suggested that it would be wise to organise a public discourse so as to prevent from distorting the history of Kangla and also to discuss about the possible outcome of constructing such hall inside Kangla.
Meanwhile, People's Action For National Democratic Movement (PANDM) has advised the Government not to take up the construction process in haste.
Appealing the Government for safeguarding the sanctity of the Kangla, the organisation also urged the State Government to consult all stakeholders before any initiative inside the Kangla to avoid public outcry.
