Central team arrives ahead of PM's visit; Team inspects border trade

Imphal, May 18 2012:
Prior to the upcoming maiden visit of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to Myanmar, where democracy has gradually started sowing its seed, Advisor to the Prime Minister TKA Nair arrived here today at the head of an official team to inspect the ongoing border trade between the two neighbouring countries.
Our Moreh correspondent reported that the Central team which is expected to remain in the state for two days landed at the border town of Moreh in a chopper at around 11 am today.
The team was given warm welcome by Commerce and Industries Minister, Govindas Konthoujam, MLA DK Korungthang and other officials on their arrival at Moreh.
The team later visited the Border Trade office located at Tamu.
After their return from Tamu, a meeting was conducted at the Conference hall of the Moreh Trade Centre to discuss issues related to border trade and the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to Myanmar.
The meeting was also attended by various Indian traders/businessmen.
