Imphal, May 16 2023:
Maintaining that the current situation in the state is fallout of the excesses com-mitted by Kuki UG groups bound by suspension of operation (So0) agreement with the central and state gov-ernments, the Co-ordinating Committee on Manipur Integ-rity (COCOMI) has appealed to authority concerned not to further extend the agreement but to abrogate the pact.
Addressing media persons at Wangkhei here on Tues-day, COCOMI Coordinator Jitendra Ningomba stated that the committee has been contributing its mite for pro-tecting the unity and integrity of the state.
However, Kuki UG groups under So0 agree-ment are resorting to selective firing on innocent people.
As there are reports that some of Kuki UG groups not under So0 agreement are involved in violent activities the cen-tral and state governments should unearth the truth be-hind the report and punish the culprits.

It is advisable that the government withdraws from the So0 agreement, he said while urging the govern-ment to look into disturbances caused along the Imphal -Ji-ribam and Imphal-Dimapur routes and ensure that people are allowed to move freely.
He also appealed to the leaders of various communities in the state to give up parochial out-look but work for the unity and integrity of the state.
COCOMI media coordinator Somorendro Thokchom, who was also present during the press briefing, said that the turmoil in the state is caused by the Kuki outfits under So0 which even the Manipur secu-rity advisor has officially an-nounced that there So0 cadres and weapons are missing in the designated camps.
"As the Kuki militants have violated the So0 ground rules it legit-imate to demand withdrawal from So0 agreement.
It is also very unfortunate that the Kuki CSOs are remaining silent in this matter.
If they appeal to the Kuki militant groups not to indulge in assaulting the innocent civilians, there could be normalcy prevailing in the state," he observed.
Meanwhile, sit-in demon-strations were staged under COCOMI in different places including Kongba Irong Ba-shikhong, Kyamgei Heibong Makhong, Heibong Makhong Youth Club, Nongmeibung Multipurpose Hall, Kongpal Kongkham Leikai, Elangbam Leikai Lairembi Lampak, Ma-lom Bazar community hall, Kha Jiri Nambol, Nungoi Mayai Leikai, Phayeng, Heibong-pokpi Lamshang, Haobam Marak keisham Leikai, Keis-hamthong, Thoubal Bazar, Charangpat, Yaiskul Moi - rangkhom and Ananda Higher Secondary School.
