Imphal, April 16 2013:
To ensure safe drinking water to the students, Principal of CC Higher Secondary School, Imphal, L Indrani has installed three Aqua Fresh RO Water Purifiers in the school at a total cost of Rs 1.4 lakh.
The amount has been coughed up by the school itself after an internal arrangement.
Talking to Hueiyen Lanpao in this connection, Principal L Indrani said that installation of water purifiers was carried out in March this year and the same was inaugurated on April 1 .
Besides the three water purifiers, there are also two water tanks with a capacity of 1000 litres each which supply water inlet to the purifiers.
Out of the total cost, some amounts were savings from the fines collected from students who failed to attend unit test examinations and irregular in attendance.
On the other hand, while welcoming the installation of water purifiers for providing safe drinking water to the students, some guardians, however, have expressed reservation over huge amount of fine imposed by the school authority from the defaulting students.
Talking to Hueiyen Lanpao, the aggrieved guardians pointed out that the huge amount of fine imposed by the school authority has become a burden to many poor families who are working from dawn to dusk to make both ends meet.
It is said that at present 990 students are studying in the school in Science, Arts and Commerce streams.
The number of students has increased manifold after the school took in 606 students in 2011 following instruction from the Education Minister.
After the sudden increase of students, the school is facing lack of classrooms and teachers, apart from non-teaching staffs.
Nonetheless, constructions of classrooms, computer rooms and laboratories are presently going on.
