Imphal, July 15 2017:
A woman has filed a complaint at Sekmai police station today urging to let her stay with her one and half year old daughter who was allegedly sold by her husband to a family.
Yumkham Ibomcha @ Premjit (30) s/o (L) Manithoiba of Awang Leikinthabi, Imphal West allegedly sold his daughter to a family without the knowledge of his wife .
Speaking to media persons, the victim's mother Chanchan (24) said that she married Ibomcha on February 25, 2009 and the couple were blessed with two sons and a daughter .
Chanchan admitted that she and her husband engaged in fights frequently after Ibomcha indulged in an illicit relationship with another woman .
She said that she returned to her parental house at Sadu Yengkhoman, Imphal on August 14, 2015 .
She alleged that her husband had also sold their second son aged around two and half years to a businessman from Nagamapal .
After hearing the news that Ibomcha had sold his daughter to a family at Heirok Part II in October of last year, a complaint was made through Child Line service.
Later a report was filed in Heirok police station on July 1 last .
The matter was heard by Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights through Child Welfare Committee, Thoubal.
As per a directive of the commission, the daughter was rescued by Heirok police on July 14, she narrated .
She said that her daughter was handed over to Specialised Adoption Agency, Bal Bhavan, Imphal.
