Community hall dedicated, musical intruments gifted

Major General DS Hooda, AVSM, VSM, GOC, Red Shield Division today today inaugurated a Community Hall in Salem Lhouthang village, Senapati district, a Market Shed at Leimakhong bazar apart from handing musical instruments to Rhythms of Manipur.
The programmes were part of were handed over under army Military Civic Action by the GOC of the army's Military Civic Action towards assisting local people by providing security and improving their amenities.
Salem Lhouthang an underdeveloped village had requested for a Community Hall under Army Military Civic Action programme to the Red Shield Division for the benefit of approximately 600 people of various communities living there.
This hall will enable them to organize social functions, gatherings and celebrate festivals together especially during rainy seasons.
Thanking the GOC the village chief assured that the gesture of the army would go a long way in bridging the gap between the communities and especially between the local population and armed forces.
In another occasion, the GOC also inaugurated a newly constructed market shed at Leimakhong Bazar today.
The 1000 square feet area concrete market shed would facilitate the farmers of the area to sell their produce and improve the marketing facilities both for the sellers as well as for the customers, throughout the year even during inclement weather.
"Rhythms of Manipur", a musical group performing traditional as well as fusion music, one of the oldest professional music company of Manipur was also presented with latest state of Art musical instruments and accoutrements.
The aim of the Red Shield Division in presenting the musical instruments and accessories to the group was to encourage the youth of Manipur to take up music as a career and also provide them a platform to become professional musicians.
Major General DS Hooda, AVSM, VSM, General Officer Commanding of Red Shield Division while presenting the items said that he was sanguine that with these additional musical instruments, Rhythms of Manipur would surely be able to edify many more youths in the right direction and provide them a sound platform to showcase their talents in the national as well as international arena.
