Imphal, October 14 2011:
Fire-brand Opposition MLA and leader of MPP Legislature Wing O Joy has categorically stated that he would question the Election Commission of India why a political party like Naga People's Front (NPF), which is hell-bent on breaking the territorial integrity of Manipur, has been allowed to set up office in Manipur.
If need be, a case would be filed in the law court, O Joy said, while speaking to mediapersons today.
O Joy contended that Nagaland Government and NSCN (IM) are solidly behind NPF in making inroads into Manipur and their only objective is to disturb the territorial integrity of Manipur.
He pointed out that till 2005 only citizens of Nagaland could become permanent members of NPF in accordance to Article 10 of its Constitution.
However, in 2009, NFP applied to Election Commission of India for amendment of the said Article so as to allow any citizens of India to become primary members of the party.
The reply of the Election Commission in this regard is still pending.
Moreover, in Article 2 (C ) of the Constitution of NFP, it has been clearly stated that one of the main objective of the party to bring together all Naga-inhabited areas under one administrative unit, O Joy further pointed out, adding that recognition of such a political party, which is hell-bent on creating disturbance not only in Manipur but also in other North Eastern States is questionable.
O Joy said that the public should be wary of the efforts being made by NFP to put up its candidates in the upcoming election to 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly.
