Imphal, May 14 2018:
Taking note of the decision of auto rickshaw and Tata Magic drivers to stay off the road for 48 hours to protest the decision of the State Government to mark the commercial areas of Imphal as off limits for the taxis, the Manipur State Council, CPI has urged the Government to work out a model that is acceptable to all.
In a statement, CPI said that an agreement should be brought about immediately as the autos and Tata Magics dispense a valuable service to the people in ferrying the people and their goods.
With the auto-rickshaws and Tata Magic off the road, the suffering of the people has increased as the task of ferrying the passengers and goods from one place to the other is served by these taxis and their staying off the road has immensely hurt the people, added the statement.
Given the reality the Government ought to work out a model which is acceptable to all and does not hurt the interests of the auto rickshaws and the people.
