Burning of education institution which is considered to be the temple of learning is like attempting to eliminate the society, said state education minister, L Jayentakumar who inspected the burnt down Langmeidong High School, Langmeidong in Kakching today.
The education minister inspected the school which six rooms had been destroyed in the arson incident on November 10 night along with works minister, K Ranjit and MLA and chairman of Manipur Pollution Control Board, E Dwijamani.
Assuring repairing the damaged part of the school at the earliest, Jayenta Kumar also promised for upgradation of the high school into higher secondary level in the near future.
Strongly protesting the burning of school building, the minister said school is the place for learning and it has been considered to be temple of modern time.
To burn down or causing damage to such institution is like attempting to eliminate the society.
It amount to loss for the society, he added.
The minister who was talking to the students, teachers and villagers gathering there also government will take up all possible measures to prevent attacking to the school buildings by the agitators.
He also informed that government has taken a decision to upgrade the Langmeidong High School into a higher secondary.
Science, commerce and arts streams will be opened.
He also announced that till the reconstruction works of the school building is completed, classes of the students will be conducted at the office complex of the Langmeidong block.
For peaceful conduct of the class, police commandos will be deployed at the premises of the schools as per instruction of the chief minister, he added.
Works minister, K Ranjit, school is the secret temple of learning.
It is not a thing to do at any cause.
It is not an encouraging one to attack schools when government is initiating talks with the agitating Apunba Lup.
He also appealed to all concern to stop from indulging to such activities which amount to loss in the society.
