Imphal, June 12 2013:
Manipur MBBS/BDS 2013 Entrance Examination Parents/Guardians Association is all set to file a case against the State government regarding the cancellation of State Pre-Medical Test (PMT) by a resolution of State Cabinet Meeting.
A release of the Association said that the parents and guardians of aspiring medical students have urged the Director of State Health Services to give a clarification on the cancellation of PMT, but the officials concerned have remained silent unable to cite proper reasons.
The PMT has been cancelled on the basis of a Supreme Court ruling, but the ruling has not been made clear to the public, it added.
Meanwhile, reacting strongly to the cancellation of State Pre-Medical Test (PMT) after collecting about Rs.47 lakhs from the candidates by the Directorate of Health Services, All Manipur Student Guardians' Organization (AMSGO) has stated that PMT should not be made like "ponzi schemes" in which a large number of investors were duped with crores of rupees.
Addressing media persons at the office of AMSGO, Palace Compound here today, Secretary of AMSGO S Sumati said that the sudden cancellation of PMT by a resolution of State Cabinet Meeting citing some ruling of the Supreme Court is against the interests of the aspiring medical students.
The conduct of the State government is akin to duping investors in ponzi schemes.
Thousands of students are now languishing in utter despair after the Directorate of Health of Services collected huge sum of money in the name of conducting the Pre-Medical Test, she contended.
She further drew the attention of the legislators to bring up this issue at the ongoing Assembly Session and fulfil the aspirations of the candidates.
Sumati also appealed to the authorities concerned to take up special measures for those students who have passed the HSLC Examination from government high schools to enable them pursue further studies.
AMSGO has also lauded Education Minister for abolishing the subject of Additional English and allowing students to take up their mother tongues in the high school standards.
