Death anniversary of Rajarshi Bhagyachandra to be observed

The 220th death anniversary of Rajarshi Bhagyachandra, the then king of Manipur, will be observed from October 9 till 12 at Barikunj temple, Radhakund, Uttar Pradesh under the aegis of Rajarshi Bhagyachandra Cultural Foundation Manipur.
This was stated by chief advisor of the association, Brahmacharimayum Amusana Sharma during a press meet held at the office of Rajarshi Bhagyachandra Cultural Foundation Manipur in Sega Road Thouda Bhabok Leikai today.
Amusana stated that the then titular king of Manipur, Chourajit set up a resting place, for people travelling on religious trips, at a temple called Puranakunj.
The death anniversary of Rajarshi Bhagyachandra was always observed at the complex (resting place).
However, this year's observation will be held at Barikunj temple at Radhakund.
Amusana further informed that a temple cum resting place was set up during the visit of another titular king, Gambhir Singh.
Informing the details of the upcoming trip, Amusana stated that apart from various cultural troupes showcasing different cultural activities and programmes, many resource persons and intellectuals will be deliberating on the life of Rajarshi.
Tarpan will also be offered during the four days death anniversary trip to Uttar Pradesh.
Amusana further stated that a documentary film titled Rajarshi Bhagyachandra will be shown on the first day, followed by renowned filmmaker, Aribam Shyam Sharma's film 'Ras of Manipur'.
Jawaharlal Nehru Manipuri Dance Academy, Manipur Cultural Ashram, Nata Sangeet Academy & Research and Centre Repertory of Waree Leeba Manipur will present various cultural programmes and events.
Amusana appealed Gouriya followers of Manipur, Vaishnav Gurus and everyone to attend the death anniversary and make the observation successful, while assuring that proper fooding and lodging will be provided for those taking part in the trip.
