Imphal, June 08 2020:
Students' union of Waikhom Mani Girls' College, Thoubal has asked all inmates involved in knocking down college properties on Sunday to clarify about the incident to the union within 5 days.
A press release issued by the students' union stated that destroying properties of the college which is a place of learning for over 2500 girl students is very condemnable and the very act has revealed the narrow mindedness and irresponsible attitude of the inmates.
Displaying such attitude by people who have received higher education in big cities is very unfortunate, it added.
The student union also sees the dismantling of college properties as an oblique attack to the student community, it said and asked all inmates involved to repair the damaged properties at the earliest.
In the meantime, inmates involved in violent activity have accepted their fault and apologised to the authority concerned.
They also repaired the dismantled gate of the college.
The inmates also claimed that no inmates have fled from the institutional quarantine centre temporarily set up at Waikhom Mani Girls' College and the 32 individuals who were sent for home quarantine had completed all formalities.
