AFTER ALMOST 11 years of cease fire between the NSCN-IM and Government of India, the former has allegedly taken under custody one officer and five jawans of the Assam Rifles from a place bordering Nagaland-Manipur, under Phek district, some 80 kms East from Kohima.
Confirming the report, sources informed NNN in the Assam Rilfes revealed that armed cadres of NSCN-IM gheraod and captivated personnel of Assam Rifless, including an officer and five jawans while they were on regular patrolling duty in between Pfutsero and Zhamai under Phek district of Nagaland at around 8 am on Thursday.
On the other hand, NSCN-IM's army spokesman 'colonel' Levy informed Newmai News Network late tonight that six Assam Rifles jawans led by one lieutenant came up straight to the NSCN-IM's camp without any prior information.
Provoked by the act of the Assam Rifles' jawans, the NSCN-IM cadres 'detained' them, according to 'colonel' Levy.
The NSCN-IM army spokesman however, said that the jawans would be released soon.
Meanwhile, the Assam Rifles while terming the act as 'gross violation of cease fire ground rules' have demanded safe and immediate release of the captivated officer and jawans and also warning serious action against the accused faction.
