Imphal, December 07 2020:
Kabui Village Women Society, Lamdan, alleged that one M Acham has threatened the management of Sacred Heart School during apress conference held today at Manipur Press Club and sought intervention of the Government and CSOs on the matter.
The Society said that the Kabui village of Lamdan and adjoining area had requested Manipur Jesuit Educational Society in 2017, to establish a school in the village as the area had no schools at that time.
Accordingly, Sacred Heart School was established in 2018 and had been providing quality education to students from the area.
However, M Acham threatened the school management recently, alleged the Society.
The Society sought attention and help from CSOs of the State on this issue.
They also said, M Acham claims that he is the hereditary chief of the village, but the village doesn't have a hereditary chief and the current legitimate chief is M Khuripou, who was recognised by the Government and also by the Zeliangrong court.
Rita Panrriei, member of the society said M Acham has caused nothing but trouble in the village, obstructing development work, filing 'wrong' reports against the villagers to the police and sending out his people to disrupt distribution of rice under relief scheme during the pandemic.
She added that the school management has withdrawn the infrastructure development work due to the threat.
