Covid claims three more lives, infects 39 others

As the threat of Covid-19 continues to persist in the state, the pandemic has claimed three more lives and infected 39 people newly out of 1352 samples tested on Sunday, thus registering a positivity rate of 2.88 per cent against Saturday's 4.11 per cent.
The three fatalities were from Imphal East, Imphal West and Kakching districts.
One of them had received second dose of Covid vaccine and the other two were unvaccinated.
The three deaths took the total number of casualties from Covid-19 in the state to 1934.Out of the 16 districts, only seven reported fresh Covid cases on Sunday with Imphal West reporting highest cases at 16 .
In terms of positivity rate, Chandel district recorded highest single day positivity rate at 10.7 per cent while Senapati district recorded lowest positivity rate at 0.6 per cent.
Bishnupur, Jiribam, Kakching, Kamjong, Kangpokpi, Noney, Pherzawl, Tamenglong and Tengnoupal districts did not report any new positive cases.
The active caseload came down to 695, out of which 70 (10.07 per cent) are in home isolation, 141 (20.29 per cent) in CCCs, and 152 (21.87 per cent) in hospitals while whereabouts of 332 patients (47.77 per cent) are not known as all the CHICs have been shut down.
Among the hospitalised patients, 46 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 26 are on oxygen support and 13 on ventilator support.
However, there is no report on number of patients on oxygen and ventilator support from JNIMS even though it has 79 patients.
On the other hand, there are two patients on oxygen support in other CCCs.
There is no updated information regarding bed availability but as of Saturday evening, 729 beds including 132 ICU/HDU beds were available in different hospitals, 2525 beds in different Covid Care Centres and 458 beds (31 ICU/HDU) in district hospitals and CHCs.
So far, the state has recorded 94,686 positive cases and 1560 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic out of which 355 new cases and 13 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.
The current month reported 355 new positive cases and 13 death cases.
According to official reports, 37 people (15 male & 22 female) out of the 39 new cases are from among the general population and the remaining two from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) whose samples were confirmed at RIMS (4), JNIMS (5) and other testing centres (30) .
The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (12), Imphal West (16), Thoubal (3), Chandel (1), Churachandpur (1), Ukhrul (3) and Senapati (1).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
In the last 24 hours, 42 patients were discharged from home isolation (6), RIMS (4), JNIMS (1) and CCCs (31) .
The cumulative number of positive cases has rose to 1,24,086 (general population - 1,19,745 and CAPF personnel - 4,341) .
Number of recovered cases is 1,21,457 (general population -1,17,135 and CAPF personnel - 4,322) andnumber of active cases is 695 (general population - 681 and CAPF personnel - 14) .
The recovery rate is 97.88 per cent.
A total of 481 D-type and 43 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.
Only 864 vaccine doses were administered on Saturday which took the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals to 12,52,873 including 7,51,665 fully vaccinated persons.
Meanwhile, two positive cases were confirmed out of 17 samples tested in Kakching on Sunday.
Both patients are residents of Kakching Sumak Leikai and their samples were confirmed at government RAT site, according to District Surveillance Officer Kakching Dr Kesho Singh Moirangthem.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (43,294), Imphal East (27,483), Thoubal (9453), Churachandpur (10,141), Kangpokpi (2782), Tamenglong (3283), Bishnupur (9161), Senapati (2234), Ukhrul (2954), Kakching (6404), Chandel (2341), Noney (1068), Tengnoupal (1067), Jiribam (1022), Kamjong (935) and Pherzawl (464) .
Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (641), Imphal East (461), Thoubal (175), Churachandpur (162), Kangpokpi (61), Tamenglong (14), Bishnupur (190), Senapati (10), Ukhrul (40), Kakching (112), Chandel (39), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5), and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 39,989 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 24,570 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 4,43,987 tests per million population against the national average of 4,37,226 TPM.
Case fatality rate rose to 1.56 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 1352 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 2.88 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity stands at 9.01 per cent.
