Poppy plantations destroyed at Mao, Machi

Living up to the policies of State Government, PHE Minister Losii Dikho along with Mao Council, ADC members, Mao students leaders, volunteers, security team and village leaders destroyed a poppy field along Koziiri range in Mao.
The Minister accompanied by the team navigated through thick forest on foot and finally discovered the poppy cultivation which was found harvested in some portion.
Expressing serious concerns over such cultivation in Mao areas, the Minister called for a total ban against such activities.
He stated that preventive measures must be taken up to ensure the protection of forest areas, identify the land owners and to warn them against the ill effects of poppy cultivation.
Minister Dikho further urged the CSOs, youth and students community, local bodies, village and church leaders to join hands in the fight against drugs, which is one of the most important policies of the State Government under the able leadership of Chief Minister N Biren Singh.
Likewise, in continuation of "War against Drugs," a combined team of Tengnoupal District Police, NAB, CDO and NCB under the supervision of Thokchom Vikramjit Singh, SP Tengnoupal and Watham Basu Singh, destroyed illicit poppy plantation of about 20 acres at the Hill range of Machi under Machi PS jurisdiction on March 5 .
The team consisted of SP/NAB along with RK Saklemba Singh, Additional SP/NAB, M Amit Singh, Additional SP(Ops) Moreh, Inspector John Lamkang, OC Tengnoupal PS and Inspector DK Angrung, OC Machi PS .
