Tengnoupal: Chaiba village witnesses IVR reconstruction for 'first time since independence'

Imphal, January 04 2019:
'For the first time since independence', villagers in Chaiba village, Kangvai Block in Churachandpur district are witnessing reconstruction of the inter village road (IVR) in the region.
The inter village road (IVR) in Chaiba village is being renovated under the aegis of L Akhup Kom, social worker and chief advisor to MP MC Mary Kom.
Chaiba village which a has majority of Kabui, has about 400 people in total.
The about 5 kms long IVR has never seen a renovation or reconstruction for years, said the villagers.

Concerned with the inconveniences the villagers are facing owing to the deteriorated condition of the road, the renovation work was started, said L Akhup Kom.
The road is logged with water during rainy season.
Dust from the road is becoming a major health hazard for the villagers, he said.
"Road expansion and shingling have started.
Authorities and departments concerned will be appealed to further blacktop the road," he said.
Villagers thanked and appreciated L Akhup for the work in progress.
