Ukhrul, January 04 2018:
One sub-contractor R Shangchiri expressed strong resentment against the Manipur Tribal Development Corporation (MTDC), regarding the indifferent attitude of the Department and the failure to release the pending bill for construction of a guest house at Khangkhui cave, Ukhrul district.
According to him, the State Government sanctioned Rs 41.9 lakh in February last year for the construction of the guest house, so as to promote the historical sites of Khangkhui cave, Ukhrul.
MTDC initially released Rs 17 lakh in November 2016 to begin the construction work, he added.
R Shangchiri said four rooms were constructed and almost 80 percent work had been completed except some minor works for the toilet.
He further said that, last year, the engineering cell of MTDC conducted an official inspection to assess the work progress and after seeing the work, the officials gave concrete assurance to release the rest of the bill without delay.
However, the authority concerned has turned a blind eye to it's promise, despite repeated appeals to release the bill in order to complete the rest of the work, he alleged.
He claimed that he had already invested huge sum of money for purchasing construction materials and for paying wages to his labourers.
He further added that, the construction works were accelerated considering the spot as one of tourists attraction in the district as well as taking into account the necessity of the guest house in the village.
