The occupants of the car dragged him out of his vehicle and took him to the under-construction complex of Senapati District Hospital in the Santro car.
They beat him black and blue and even demanded Rs.10,000 from him.
He was released by the miscreants at around 5 pm when some local leaders reached the spot.
Later, a complaint was lodged at Senapati Police Station regarding the incident, Romesh said.
The driver as well as the family members of the student vehemently condemned the incident and demanded the authorities concerned to take stringent action against the culprits.
