Judicial remand till March 16

Sanasam Malemnganba alias Nganba Meitei (24) s/o Inao of Sawombung VDF Post Leirak, was remanded into judicial custody till March 16 by Special Judge POCSO Imphal East today, in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a minor victim, who happened to be the sister of one of his friends.
The IO submits that during police interrogation, Malemnganba admitted to the charges levelled against him and he also disclosed that Laishram Tangba, who was earlier arrested in connection with the case and released on bail by the same Court on February 28, was not involved in the crime.
The accused admitted that he pulled the victim girl till the paddy field (at Hiripat) and sexually assaulted her, the IO mentioned praying for judicial remand of the accused.
As such, the Court remanded Malemnganba into judicial custody till March 16. On the other hand, Laishram Tangba was directed to appear on March 16 as well.
Malemnganba's father field an application through their defense counsel under section 9 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act read with section 34 of POCSO Act for passing an appropriate order for forwarding Malemnganba to the Juvenile Board.
The Court register it as a Cril Misc case and directed the petitioner to produce witnesses to prove the plea and fixed March 16 for hearing.
