Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) authority and student body DESAM today deliberated on the COVID-19 bio-waste management issue at the office chamber of the JNIMS Director.
JNIMS Director, Prof Th Bhimo; Medical Superintendent, Prof T Rajen; FMT Head Prof, G Angam; Incinerator Plant In-Charge, Prof O Guneshwar; Additional Medical Superintendent, Dr Kh Lokeshwar; Deputy Director (Administration), Yaiphaba Longjam and Supervisor of Bio-Medical Waste, O Arju represented JNIMS authority during the meet while DESAM delegate consisted its president N Edison; vice president O Shital and assistant general secretary M Somorjit.
Matters pertaining to disposal of COVID-19 bio-medical wastes in line with the growing number of COVID-19 cases in the State were discussed during the meeting which also saw the JNIMS authority agree to act on various terms proposed by the student body.
The JNIMS authority, as urged by DESAM, agreed to fully utilize the incinerator plant being installed at the institute for effective disposal of bio-medical wastes.
It was also agreed that the Medical Superintendent of JNIMS himself will supervise the working of the incinerator plant and biomedical waste disposal work on daily basis and furnish a detailed report of it within 7 days to the JNIMS Director.
JNIMS authority lauded DESAM for their concern and the proposals regarding the bio-medical waste management to ensure safety for all and expressed willingness to work together with the student body towards the cause of the people in future as well.
