State level World Cancer Day observation held

National Health Mission Manipur, YMDA, WAC, SYC, Kakwa, organised a State level World Cancer Day observation and NCD-Ayush integration health camp at Kakwa Laiphrakpam Leikai yesterday, under the theme 'We can, I can' .
The programme started with a walkathon from Kakwa bazaar to Singjamei bazaar followed by a demonstration of Yoga's benefit on Non Communicable Diseases (NCD) .
The walkathon was flagged off by Minister Karam Shyam and Siate Mission Director, National Health Mission, Dr K Rajo Singh, who also took part in the event.
Yoga demonstrators of Ayush Department gave Yoga demonstrations while Dr Kh Sasheelakumar Mangang, Additional Director (PH) Directorate of Health Services, Dr N Hemantakumar Singh, Medical Superintendent, DH Thoubal, Dr Benedict Maring, SNO (Ayush), NHM and Dr H Kula Singh, presided over the function as chief guest, guests of honour and president respectively.

As a part of the function, a free mega health camp and cancer screening including pap smear screening, eye checkup, diabetes checkup, blood pressure checkup, electrocardiogram, psychiatric clinic and Ayush was also held in collaboration with Babina Diagnostics, Dr Anjana Phukan Memorial Foundation, Manipur Heart Foundation, Shija Hospital, Kangla Diagnostics, Chief Ministergi Hakshelgi Tengbang (CMHT) and State NCD Cell, NHM Manipur and local clubs of Kakwa.
Around 470 patients were screened in the mega health camp.
On the other hand, a showcase of nine district NCD Cells were displayed at the function while Dr Y Premchandra Singh, SNO NPCDCS and Dr L Manoranjan, surgeon DH Chandel and Sheirangba Waikhom, State Program Coordinator NCD, spoke on the plan of integrating NCD and Ayush in NCD elinics.
The event held yesterday, was the concluding function of the two months observation of World Cancer Day which was observed across the NCD clinics of nine districts of the State.
