Samurou Nagar Panchayat Chairperson gives pension to 69 persons

Imphal, June 30 2019:
Chairperson of Samurou Nagar Panchayat, Leihaothabam Nonibala Devi has distributed pension to the elders, widows, and children who have lost one or both of their parents during a simple function held at her residence near Samurou Keithel, this evening.
The pensions were distributed to a total of 69 individuals who are without any assistance from Government.
Speaking at the event, L Nonibala, who was elected from Ward No 4 of Samurou Nagar Panchayat, said that the pensions are given annually from her honorarium.
Today was the fourth edition of the pension distribution programme.
Nonibala said that she had received her honorarium in March.

But due to enforcement of model code of conduct, the distribution of pension was delayed by a few months, she said.
Expressing concerned that two elders who were over 80 years have passed away recently without getting any benefits from the State Government, the Chairperson appealed all concerned to be aware of the schemes initiated by the Government.
She also appealed authorities concerned to provide necessary benefits to the deserving individuals efficiently without delay.
The programme organised by Pension Scheme Implementation Committee, Samurou was graced by local elder Mutum Kunjo as chief guest.
