Imphal, September 22 2020:
The much speculated reshuffle of Biren Government's Council of Ministers is likely to be effected soon.
Chief Minister N Biren and BJP Manipur Pradesh president S Tikendra returned to Imphal this evening after meeting many BJP Central leaders including party president JP Nadda at Delhi yesterday.
Congress MLA RK Imo and ex-MLA Md Abdul Nasir also came back to Imphal along with them.
Meanwhile sources informed that the Biren Government's Council of Ministers is likely to undergo a major reshuffle shortly.
Five persons are likely to be inducted in the Council of Ministers, including two who had earlier resigned from the Assembly and the Congress.

The five also include Speaker Y Khemchand (Singjamei AC) .
The others who are likely to be inducted in the Council of Ministers include Thokchom Satyabrata Singh (BJP, Yaiskul), O Lukhoi (erstwhile Congress, Wangoi), Vungzagin Valte (BJP, Thanlon) and O Henry (erstwhile Congress, Wangkhei).
Sources further said that the Ministers likely to be dropped from the Council of Ministers include Nemcha Kipgen (Social Welfare Minister, Kangpokpi), Th Radheshyam (Education Minister, Heirok) and Hangkhanlian (Agriculture Minister, Churachandpur), Letpao Haokip (YAS Minister, NPP) and Jayantakumar (Medical Minister, NPP) .
Out of the incumbent 11 Cabinet Ministers, five or six are likely to be replaced.
There are 12 Cabinet Ministers including the Chief Minister.
They include four each from BJP and NPP, two from NPF and one from LJP.
According to the sources, two Cabinet Ministers of NPP, one of another party and three Cabinet Ministers of BJP may be replaced by new faces.
Against the five/six incumbent Ministers who are likely to be removed, three BJP MLAs including one who has been already holding key posts may be inducted into the Council of Ministers.
The remaining two/three vacant Ministerial berths may be allotted to MLAs who had resigned from Congress party, said the sources.
However, a dialogue and an understanding is required before stripping NPP of two Ministerial berths.
If one or two Ministerial berth(s) is/are stripped of NPP without its consent, the party may walk out of the BJP-led coalition, the sources added.
Interestingly a resignation letter purportedly signed by V Hangkhanlian went viral on the social media today evening, but when contacted the MLA rubbished the viral post and added that he had not written any such 'resignation letter addressed to anybody' .
