Imphal, April 22 2021:
People for Animals (PFA) Manipur has cautioned that Nestle products will be boycotted if the company doesn't clarify the 'gross misrepresentation' of Keibul Lamjao National Park on its KitKat (Chocolate) cover.
In a statement, managing trustee of PFA, Manipur Lourembam Biswajeet Meitei maintained that they came across a wrapping paper of Nestle's KitKat mentioning the name of Keibul Lamjao National Park, but indicates its location in Meghalaya, which is grossly incorrect.
Though the campaign of Nestle "My Travel Break" which aims at promoting the tourist destinations of the country is commendable, PFA takes such erroneous misrepresentation of a sensitive area very seriously, he continued.

Asserting that Keibul Lamjao National Park is not any simple park, but the only floating park in the world and home to Sangai (Rucervus eldii eldii), Biswajeet added that such irresponsibility on the part of Nestle is regrettable.
Moreover, displaying a Lesser Panda picture above the word "Keibul Lamjao National Park" on the KitKat cover makes things more confusing as the animal has no link with Keibul Lamjao, he said and opined that the people of Manipur would have applauded Nestle, had they used the picture of Sangai on its cover and promote Keibul Lamjao National Park after verification of facts.
Continuing that PFA Manipur had communicated with the Corporation Communication Manager of Nestle India and urged them to clarify the blunder in National and regional newspapers, he cautioned that the people of Manipur will boycott Nestle products in the State if the demand is ignored.
Meanwhile, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) & Chief Wildlife Warden Manipur, Dr AK Joshi has also sent a letter of complaint to the Head Office of Nestle House about the serious misrepresentation of Keibul Lamjao National Park and appealed to them to deal with this issue at the earliest possible.
