Altogether 32 Manipuri students and professionals who fled Bangalore and Pune have reached Imphal today from Guwahati after buses were arranged for them by officials of Manipur Government who were sent their to assist natives of the State coming back from different parts of India.
State Government officials sent to Bangalore, Pune and Guwahati as per a Cabinet decision have reached their destinations and begun their assigned tasks.
M Yaiskul, IAS and Ranjan Yumnam, MCS who were sent to Guwahati have opened a help desk for Manipuri students and professionals at Guwahati Railway Station.
They are also coordinating State natives coming from Bangalore and Pune.
The Government officials arranged two buses for 32 students and professionals who fled from Bangalore and Pune and reached Guwahati today for their onward journey to Imphal.
The officials are also looking for State natives who reached Guwahati earlier.
Chandel SP E Priyokumar who was sent to Pune called on the DCP, CID (Special Branch), Pune and collected reports about the threats, rumours and resulting exodus of North East people from the city.
It is reported that arrangements have been made for joint celebration Id-Ul-Fitr between Manipuri people staying in Kondwa area of Pune and local Muslim residents tomorrow.
In addition to stringent security measures taken up by Pune Police, the Government of Maharastra has constituted peace committees to calm down the situation and allay the nagging apprehension.
DIG (Range-I) Clay Khongsai who was sent to Bangalore has also started collecting detail reports and information from Manipuris staying there.
