Imphal, January 15, 2012:
The Common Minimum Programme for the Peoples' Democratic Front (PDF) will be published shortly, stated Lok Sabha MP and NCP General Secretary PA Sangma.
Speaking to media persons after releasing the election manifesto of NCP at their Thangmeiband office this afternoon, PA Sangma stated no single party can form the next Government in Manipur.
Keeping aside its own interest, NCP formed an alliance with four other parties including MPP in the interest of Manipur and the region, claimed PA Sangma.
The 25-point manifesto released today listed establishment of a popular and responsible Government in Manipur as the foremost priority.
The other point is to ensure political stability so that the State can march on the path of development.
It also noted issues and problems related to corruption, unemployment, violence against women and children, human rights violation under AFSPA, territorial integrity, drug abuse, HIV/AIDS as well as highway blockades.
The NCP further vowed to expedite human resource development, take up several horticulture and agriculture schemes and pay special attention to rural healthcare.
It assured that NCP would work to make life saving drugs at reduced prices and also to install modern equipment in hospitals.
To resolve the insurgency issue through dialogue, abolition of AFSPA and complete withdrawal of Restricted Area Permit System were some other points highlighted in the manifesto.
Enforcement of Inner Line Permit System also figured in the manifesto.
It also talked about paying special attention to Look East Policy as well as further development of information technology, tourism, art and culture and sports.
